“Hey,
Raven, weren't we supposed to be doing something today?” asked
Blue, rattling the bars of his cage.
“Probably,”
replied Raven, “but I think the Author got distracted again.”
“With
what?” demanded Blue. “It's not like s/he ever does anything
constructive.”
“Really,
were you expecting anything resembling competence from our Author?
You really just don't learn, do you?”
“You
raise a valid point,” conceded Blue. “Maybe we should pay them a
visit, just to get their arse into gear.”
“We
could...” replied Raven. “...Or you could be quiet and let me
finish the last of this paperwork, whichever you'd prefer.”
